Meet Rev. & Mrs. Rudy Poettcker

Rev. Rudy Poettcker is RCM's missionary to Suriname having resided permanently in that country from 1994 through 2006.  Rev. Poettcker is the Headmaster of Christian Liberty Academy (started in 1979) in Paramaribo, Suriname and also serves on the session of First Presbyterian Church in Paramaribo, Suriname (started in 1978). His wife, Sharilyn has worked with him in the school in various capacities including emergency health-care services to students using her nursing experience. 

While continuing their work in Suriname, in 2006 they were granted legal immigrant status to the U.S. (being Canadian citizens) and are now residing in Florida. Rev. Poettcker continues his oversight of the work in Suriname, while also taking on additional responsibilities with Reformation International College and Theological Seminary as Dean of Studies. In this capacity, he is involved in oversight of both the academic and student work of the non-doctoral students. In order to assist with the additional family living expenses not covered by donation support for their ministry through RCM, Sharilyn is taking secular employment in the nursing field. Rev. Poettcker also serves as co-pastor of King's Reformed Presbyterian Church of Palm Bay, Florida (along with Rev. Geoffrey Donnan) which is a relatively new church plant. (At present, their work for the church is voluntary and without pay.)

With the change in location and additional responsibilities, the Poettcker's ministry acronymn remains the same (S.A.L.T.) but has changed its significance from Suriname Advanced Leadership Training to Scriptural Advanced Leadership Training. This is intended to reflect the broader scope of the impact of their ministry as it now advances well beyond the borders of Suriname into all of the areas of RCM's outreach of training.

Bi-monthly updates on their work in Suriname and with the college and seminary with RCM will keep you abreast of the Lord's ministry through them.
